From Seals to Puffins, share the work undertaken to protect the Yorkshire Coasts' wild and marine life.

This Spring, we launched our video series to highlight the conservation work undertaken by organisations across the Yorkshire Coast who work tirelessly to protect areas and habitats for some very special wild and marine animals that call this place home.

The first video in the Wildlife Watch series features Scarborough SeaLife Centre. The SeaLife Centre not only serves as a fantastic attraction to visit for both locals and visitors to the Yorkshire Coast, but it also does some incredible work in terms of the conservation and protection of local wildlife. In this video, Todd German, Curator at SeaLife Scarborough, shares insight on the centre’s seal rehabilitation and release programme which helps seals across the Yorkshire Coast. 


Next in our Wildlife Watch series we visit the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust at Flamborough. The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust do incredible work protecting wildlife all over Yorkshire. In this episode, Sophie Atkinson, Inspiring People Officer at Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, shares insight into the work of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust Marine team and, more specifically, about the local Atlantic Puffins that are nesting in Flamborough Cliffs. 


Home to the largest gannet colony in mainland UK, and England’s largest, Bempton Cliffs is the ideal spot to see gannets between the months of February and September. Scott Davison-Smith, Visitor Operations Manager at RSPB Bempton Cliffs talks through the gannets that occupy Bempton Cliffs.
